Castle Sports & Social Club - About Us
In 1974 Castle Private club was opened as a member’s club with 2 bowling greens and sports facilities within the establishment along with a 150 person capacity function room and 2 bars.
Prior to the new club there was once a timber hut alongside what is now called Green 2 and a tennis court. The top green now known as Green 1 was played on by a different bowling club known as Yarwood’s but in 1974 when the club was built Castle Private took over the green. The hut was demolished and the tennis courts were converted into a car park around the time of the new club opening.

The club is committee run along with a full-time club manager/steward, all of whom are there to help successfully provide what is required of them for the members. The committee meets regularly in private and once a year holds an AGM which all members of the club are entitled to attend.
The club prides itself on providing a friendly atmosphere where members can socialise and enjoy all the sporting facilities that we provide.

The club incorporates five sporting sections – Bowls with 2 greens, snooker, pool, darts, dominoes. Some sections have their own Facebook page, which can be accessed by clicking the logos along the top of the screen.
